When your AHJ will require it
Sprinkler or standpipe impairment, fire alarm outage lasting more than four hours in a 24-hour period, hot work such as welding or cutting, and certain temporary occupancy or construction phases.
What the log must show
Officer name and license, start and end times, each round's timestamp and route, any hazards observed, and corrective action taken. Missing logs are the most common reason a fire watch is rejected during inspection.
