Class D — unarmed
Requires 40 hours of state-approved training, a background check, and fingerprinting. Renewed every two years with continuing education.
Class G — armed
Requires an additional 28 hours of firearms instruction plus annual requalification. Class G is only valid alongside an active Class D.
Class B — the agency
Only a licensed Class B agency may contract security officers to third parties in Florida. Always ask for the agency license number and verify it before signing.
